Unfortunately many have been wearing formal shoes to even bow tie events and dress shoes to formal work on a Monday morning !

What makes a shoe formal or dressy ?
We will center this topic on two major categories of men shoes formal and Dress Shoes
Formal Shoes : These are mostly pointy in shape, made from genuine leather upper material and MUST have a lace. the soles are made from good quality leather or good quality galvanized rubber. A good example of a formal shoe is an Oxford lace-up shoes or butchers if you like.
I must state clearly that suede or patent leather (glossy) shoes are not formal even if they take a form of an oxfords
they are at best categorized as dress or casual shoes.

Dress Shoes:
Dress shoes on the contrary are direct contrast from formal shoes.
Just as the name suggests, stylish, flashy, bold look a typical example of a dress shoe is a brogue. are you surprise
brogues are not formal shoes shoes like a lot of people think they are dressy and ceremonial in nature typical for a Bow-tie event or social outings.
The likes of slip-on, brogues, monk-straps, loafers etc fall in this category. These are not suitable for a formal work environment even if they come in dark colors.
